Are you Savoring the Moment?

The calendar says spring is here! Do you see what I see? Have you looked outside?  Have you noticed the trees are starting to bloom and everything is beginning to look new.  Have you seen any of this? Or have you been walking around, going from place to place, office to home and back again without appreciating the beauty of the here and now? We have a tendency to walk around from place to place with our eyes on our cell phones, rushing, rushing, rushing and ignoring what is in front of us – not appreciating the wonder of it all.
Stop for a few seconds as you are moving from place to place and event to event – take it in – breathe it, savor it.  At this moment it is all you have – savor and appreciate the beauty and excellence around you. It will bring a smile to your face no matter what you are up against in your life.
When talking with people, like you, I hear about how  you are rushing from moment to moment without appreciating what you have in your life.  One evening recently I attended an event.  The organizers were fearful we would not have a good turnout.  I stopped and looked around – blocked out the noise from the many individuals who did show and yet I could feel the energy in the room. Moving from person to person to greet them, I didn’t even notice it.  I finally stopped and took it all in – created a mental picture. Today, while trying to work on my priority list, I kept that picture with me.  When I became frustrated, it was the moments from last night which kept me going.   Try to take in some of those times, it helps you to get through those times when things are rushed, things are not going your way or life seems crappy.
Mark Hack via James Wendling said, “Stop overlooking the beauty of small moments. – Enjoy the little things, because one day you may look back and discover they were the big things.  The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.”  These are the times that, although seem insignificant at the time, can motivate you and bring you to greatness.
As you go through these next few weeks, take off your blinders;  stop and savor the moments.  Look for those flowers emerging.  Look at those mundane times we all live through and see the beauty in them.  They are there – you just need to open your eyes.
Until next time – be open to the possibilities,
